December 1st: A world day worth remembering
Yesterday was the World AIDS Day , a day for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS that has been observed since 1988 on December 1st each year.
This year, world AIDS day was about getting to zero, ie zero infections, zero discrimination, zero AIDS-related deaths. UN officials said that for the end of the AIDS pandemic is within reach. Of course there is still some way to go and research on HIV/AIDS is ongoing.
At the International Journal of Public Health, we regularly publish articles on HIV/AIDS, focusing mainly on surveillance and socioeconomic factors. The most recent ones are about surveillance of other sexually transmitted infections among people with HIV , factors associated with HIV testing amonst immigrants , and intervention projects.
Let us know your thought about this special day! And don’t forget to visit this very informative page , full of up to date facts and myth busters about HIV/AIDS!
